Peoples Group announced today the appointment of Anne Butler to the newly created role of Chief Legal Officer, which will direct all aspects of the Legal and Compliance teams. She joins us from six years with Payments Canada, where she served most recently as the Chief External Relations and Legal Officer. Anne has expertise in managing stakeholder and government relations, steering organizations through regulated environments, and developing high performing, professional teams.
Anne has an LL.B from Queen’s University, Faculty of Law and her ICD.D designation, granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is a trusted advisor to management and boards of directors and brings deep experience leading diverse teams in complex, highly regulated environments. Anne is a strong advocate for diversity in leadership and decision-making and an active mentor of developing professionals and leaders. She also believes in giving back to the community through volunteer service, currently serving as a board member with the YMCA- YWCA of the National Capital Region. Anne is a sought-after speaker, regularly contributing to discussions on a variety of topics in the legal and payments industries.
